Paints Win Fifth Straight, Beat Johnstown 12-8
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - The Chillicothe Paints, presented by CohenOrthopedic, won their fifth-consecutive game Wednesday night, beating the Mill Rats in Johnstown 12-8.
The Paints (4-0, 16-15) scored three runs in each of the first three innings, jumping out to a 9-1 lead.
Johnstown (2-2, 17-13) scored two in third and two in the fifth, cutting it to a 9-5 game before the Paints would score again in the seventh.
Chillicothe plated one in the seventh, scoring on a double play and then added two in the eighth. Alex Bemis hit his second RBI double of the game, driving in one and Michael Simone hit a sacrifice fly, making it 12-5.
The Mill Rats scored three in the ninth and got the tying run to the plate with the bases loaded when Austin Lafferty flied out to deep center field to end the game.
Tannar Patterson turned in his first three-hit game of the season. Justin Gorski, Cam Gravelle, Alex Bemis and Michael Simone each had two hits. Brady Groves, Caden Christman and Gabe Pitts each had one hit each. Gravelle drove in a team-high four, while Bemis and Simone each had 3 RBIs.
The Paints return to VA Memorial Stadium to host Dubois County at 7:05 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Friday night is Thirsty Thursday with $2 domestic drafts. After the game 100.9 Hank FM sponsors the Fireworks Extravaganza. Friday, the first 500 fans 21 and over receive a free Busch Light keychain and it's Party with the Paints by Budweiser, featuring live music on the deck after the game by Jamie Baxter.
