Alex Bemis Re-Signs With Paints

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The Chillicothe Paints, presented by CohenOrthopedic, have re-signed 2025 Prospect League All-Star outfielder Alex Bemis for the upcoming season, which begins May 26.

Bemis returns to Chillicothe for his third season in the Mill City. Over the previous two summers, the outfielder owns a .264 batting average, hitting nine doubles, one triple, 10 home runs and driving 61. He has walked 30 times and stolen 26 bases on 31 attempts. Bemis is slugging .434 and is reaching base at a .358 clip over two seasons.

The Monroe, Ohio, native is currently playing his first season at The Ohio State University. (As of April 29) The junior has started 40 games for the Buckeyes, ranking fifth on the team with a .280 batting average, second with eight home runs and 30 runs scored. Bemis leads the Buckeyes with a .422 on base percentage and is third with a .939 OPS. 

Bemis spent his first two college seasons at NCAA DII Gannon University, hitting .311 with 32 doubles and 10 home runs. He was named All-PSAC First-Team after the 2025 season and ranks 10th all-time at Gannon for career doubles. 

In his first summer with the Paints in 2024, Bemis hit .310 in 26 games with four doubles, five home runs and 28 RBIs while stealing 12 bases without being caught once. In a six-game stretch from June 4-9 that season, Bemis drove in 18 runs, having multiple-RBI efforts in each of the six games.

Last summer, Bemis hit .232 with five doubles, one triple and five home runs over 40 games, swiping 14 bags on 21 tries. 

A graduate of Monroe High School, Bemis owns the program record for triples in a season (7) and was named 2023 conference Player of the Year and was a three-time All-Conference selection.
