Paints Re-Sign Infielder Carter Hire

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The Chillicothe Paints, presented by CohenOrthopedic, announce the re-signing of infielder Carter Hire for the upcoming 2026 season, which begins May 26. 

Hire joined the Paints last summer as a graduated high school player about a month after completing his senior season at Olentangy High School by helping the Braves win the 2025 OHSAA Dvision I State Championship.

Hire played in 13 games for Chillicothe, promptly collecting at least one hit in each of his first eight games. He also collected five multi-hit games, including a 3-for-6 effort July 21 against Johnstown that included a double and two RBIs. 

The Lewis Center, Ohio, native finished the season hitting .241 (13-for-54) with three doubles, nine RBIs, five walkes, nine runs scored and two stolen bases.

Primarily a middle-infielder and a natural shortstop, Hire also saw time at third base last summer. 

In his first collegiate season so far this spring (as of March 30), Hire has appeared in six games off the bench at Ohio Northern University.
