After Season-High 17 Hits, Paints Beat Danville 12-6

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The Chillicothe Paints, presented by CohenOrthopedic, had a single-game high 17 hits in a 12-6 win over the Danville Dans Saturday night at VA Memorial Stadium.
Mason McManus doubled home Carter Hire to get the scoring started in the bottom of the first. Three batters later, Alex Bemis hit a three-run home run, followed by a Tyler Stone double and a Mitchel Szymczak RBI single, making it 5-0 Paints after one inning.
Danville's Jorge Santana II hit his first home run of the season while leading off the second inning. Owen Anderson knocked home another run later in the inning, cutting the Paints lead to 5-2.
The Paints scored on a McMans hit in the bottom of the fourth and a Stone single in the fifth, extending the lead to 7-2.
Chillicothe put up another five-run inning in the sixth. Hire doubled, plating the first of the inning, scoring later when Bemis was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. With the bases loaded, Stone beat out an infield hit to the hole at shortstop, driving in a run. Mitchel Szymczak drove home another with a sacrifice fly and Cam Gravelle walked with the bases loaded, forcing home another and making it 12-2.
Danville extended the game, scoring a pair of runs in the top of the seventh and cutting it to a 12-4 game on Santana's single to center that followed a leadoff hit batter and then a double by Tanner McMrray.
The Dans made it 12-6 with a pair of unearned runs in the ninth.
AJ McAninch (3-2) earned the win, allowing two runs on two hits, five walks and three strikeouts over five innings. Nick Sawyer and Titus Lotz combined to throw the final four innings for the Paints.
Six different Paints turned in multi-hit nights - led by Stone, who went 4-for-5. Bemis drove in four, while McManus, Stone and Szymczak each collected two RBIs.
The Paints host the Dans at VA Memorial Stadium again Sunday at 6:05 p.m. Kids, 12 and under, get in free for Subway Kids Day and can run the bases and meet the players on the field after. It's also 4-H Night, sponsored by Ohio Farm Bureau.
