Paints Sweep Doubleheader vs Johnstown, 4-0 & 8-1

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The Chillicothe Paints, presented by CohenOrthopedic, swept both ends of a doubleheader vs the Johnstown Mill Rats Thursday at VA Memorial Stadium, winning game one 4-0 and game two 8-1.

In game one, the Paints broke a scoreless tie with a four-run third. With the bases loaded, Jeremy Delamota singled home Cam Gravelle. Alex Bemis was hit by a pitch, forcing home Justin Gorski and Alexander Wright singled, scoring Delamota and Mason McManus.

Matt Moscarino (2-1) started for Chillicothe, throwing five shutout innings while surrendering four hits, walking three and striking out one. Cal Chase threw the final two innings, giving up two hits and striking out one. 

Gorski, Delamota and Wright each had two hits for the Paints.

In game two, the first seven Chillicothe batters reached in the bottom of the first on five hits and a walk. The first six scored. After Gravelle led off with a double, Carter Hire signled him home. On an errant pickoff throw, Hire advanced to second, later advancing to third on Delamota's single. After Delamota took second without a throw, Tyler Stone tripled to right and driving in two. Jackson Boles followed with a double of his own, then Colin West worked a walk and went to second on a passed ball. Mitchel Szymczak singled, scoring Boles. Michael Patellis made it 6-0 on an RBI groundout. It stayed 6-0 until the fifth.

With one out, Boles walked and West reached on a throwing error. Szymczak singled home Boles. With two outs, Cameron Birch singled to left, scoring West and making it 8-0.

The Mill Rats broke a string of 14 consecutive shutout innings by Chillicothe pitching in the top of the seventh, scoring on a single, a walk and two wild pitches. 

Christian Pareja (2-0) started for the Paints, throwing five shutout innings and facing only one over the minimum after allowing one hit and striking out five. Zach Neville threw the final two innings, allowing a run on one hit and three walks. 

The Paints play again Friday in Springfield, Ohio, vs Champion City at 6:35 p.m.
