Paints Score Four in the Ninth, Walk Off Champion City 6-5

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The Chillicothe Paints, presented by CohenOrthopedic, scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth to walk off Champion City 6-5 at VA Memorial Stadium Wednesday night. The Paints are now 11-2 at home this season.

After giving up three runs in the top of the ninth, Champion City held a 5-2 lead.

Justin Teixeria walked to lead off the inning. After a strikeout for the first out, a single by Cam Gravelle put runners at first and second. Mason McManus followed with a double to right-center, scoring Teixeira and Gravelle and cutting the Kings' lead to 5-4. Alex Bemis then singled on a two-strike pitch, tying the game at 5-5. After a pitching change, Bemis advanced to third on a wild pitch and, with the infield in, Jeremi Delamota singled past the Champion City shortstop, sending Bemis home and the Paints to their third walk off win over Champion City this season.

Notes:

  • Gravelle led the Paints with a 4-for-5 game, turning in the first four-hit game by a Chillicothe player this year.
  • Delamota collected two hits and the game-winning RBI in his Paints debut.
  • Delamota, Bemis and Hill each had two hits and an RBI each.
  • Chillicothe starting pitcher Matt Moscarino needed just 59 pitches to work through six innings while allowing two runs on five hits, walking one and striking out three. His six innings ties the longest outing by a Paints starter this season.
