Paints Beat Mill Rats 10-5, Move to 10-2 at Home

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The Chillicothe Paints, presented by CohenOrthopedic, picked up their tenth home win of the season Sunday, beating Johnstown 10-5 and ending a seven-game losing skid in the process.

After Johnstown (17-11, 0-2) took a 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth, Chillicothe (14-14, 1-1) answered with four in the bottom of the frame. Justin Teixeira knocked home Nate Hill with a single and then Cam Gravelle tripled home Teixeira and Jackson Boles. On the play, a throw out of play allowed Gravelle to score, making it 4-0 Chillicothe, a lead they wouldn't relinquish. 

The Mill Rats got to it 4-3 with a run on Sergio DiCello's sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth, that's as close at the 'Rats would get. 

The Paints followed up with a six-run, three hit bottom of the sixth. Mason McManus and Alex Bemis collected RBI hits in the inning, while two bases-loaded walks and two bases-loaded hit batters pushed home four additional runs, extending the Paints' lead to 10-3.

Johnstown would score two in the eighth, but the Paints went on to win, 10-5.

Branin Seibert (2-0) made his first start of the summer for the Paints, throwing five innings while allowing two runs on four hits, walking one and striking out five. Tyler Mendez, Zane Vitense and Will Rodriguez combined to throw the final four innings for Chillicothe. 

Mill Rats starter John Hojnowski (4-1) took his first loss of the season after allowing four runs on eight hits, walking three and striking out five over five innings.
