Lloyd Strikes Out 11, Paints Roll To 10-1 Win In Johnstown

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - Starting pitcher Dylan Lloyd struck out the first eight Mill Rats batters Saturday night in Johnstown while a late rally pushed the Chillicothe Paints, presented by CohenOrthopedic, to a 10-1 win.

Chillicothe (3-2) scored first for the fourth time in five game when Alex Bemis doubled home Mason McManus in the top of the third.

Johnstown (2-2) would answer in the bottom of the fourth, scoring on a wild pitch after two walks and a hit batter loaded the bases.

The Paints took the lead for good in the top of the sixth. With the bases loaded, Jackson Boles hit a ground ball to the Mill Rats first baseman, who threw home for the force out. On the play, the catcher made an errant throw to third, allowing Nate Hill to score. A wild pitch brought home another run and McManus played a third run with an infield hit. Another wild pitch aloowed another runner to score, making it 5-1. A balk, brought home another, making it 6-1.

Lloyd (1-0) finished six innings in his first start of the summer, allowing one run on one hit and striking out 11 while walking two. Tyler Mendez would finish pitch the final three innings, earning the save after surrendeing one hit, walking three and striking out three.

Chillicothe added three more in the top of the ninth on another balk, a Bemis double and a Cam Gravelle single, finishing the scoring at 10-1.

Mason McManus reached base five times, going 3-3 with two walks, three runs scored and an RBI. Cam Gravelle also had a three-hit game, going 3-6 with an RBI. Bemis hit two doubles, driving in three on the night.
