Paints Fall To REX 12-4, Split Series

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The Chillicothe Paints, presented by CohenOrthopedic, saw their game with the REX Friday night slip away in a 12-4 loss at VA Memorial Stadium.

Starting pitcher Gavin Beuter turned in a strong performance, allowing just one unearned run over the first five innings, striking out four. He exited the game with the Paints in front 4-1. After that, the game turned heavily in favor of the visitors.

The REX (2-2) scored a two out run in the sixth, cutting the Chillicothe (2-2) lead to 4-2. With two outs in the seventh, they plated three. The REX added four in the eighth, all with two outs. In the ninth, they scored three more while there were two out. Wally Diaz hit two, two-run home runs, while Felix Polanco hit a three-run home run.

CJ Richmond broke out offensively for the Paints, going 2-3 with a triple, two runs scored and two RBIs. In his debut this summer, Nate Hill went 2-3 with a double and two RBIs. Mason McManus and Michael Patellis had the other two hits for Chillicothe.
