Eric Colaco Named Prospect League Hitter of the Week
CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - Chillicothe outfielder Eric Colaco has been named the Prospect League's Hitter of the Week for week for week five.
In four games and 17 at-bats this past week, Colaco hit .588 with 10 hits, seven runs scored, three doubles, one home run, and a league-leading nine runs batted in. He also grabbed 16 total bases and put up a 1.512 on-base + slugging percentage.
As of July 2, Colaco is hitting .408 over 24 games with 40 hits, 11 doubles, one triple, three home runs, 28 RBIs and 29 runs scored, while maintaining an on-base percentage of .465 and slugging percentage of .633.
The Richfield, Ohio, native leads the Prospect League in average, doubles, extra-base hits and total bases, is second in runs scored, hits and slugging perdentage, ranks fourth in RBIs and fifth in stolen bases.
Colaco, the reigning NCAA Division III National Player of the Year, hit .420 in 50 games this spring for Denison with 89 hits, 79 runs, and 59 RBIs.
He joins Alex Bemis (week two) and Sam Fabian (week 4) as the third Paints player to be named Prospect League Hitter of the Week through the first five weeks of the season.
