Paints Sign Ohio State's Ben Schechterman

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The back-to-back Prospect League champion Chillicothe Paints, presented by CohenOrthopedic, have signed pitcher Ben Schechterman for the upcoming 2024 season, which begins May 28.

Schechterman is currently in his freshman season at The Ohio State University.

The Aurora, Ohio, native played varsity baseball all four years at Aurora High School. As a pitcher, he recorded 123 strikeouts in 80 innings and had an ERA of 1.75, helping his team to two Suburban League Championships. Schechterman was named the 2023 Suburban League Pitcher of the Year, also earning Northeast Ohio Baseball Coaches Association D1 All-American First Team and Prep Baseball Report All-State Second Team honors. 

The lefthander was also named 2023 Perfect Game Preseason All-American Honorable Mention, while they ranked him the no. 5 left-handed pitcher in his class in the state and Ohio's 48th overall recruit in his class.
