Paints Re-Sign Pitcher Mikey Olivieri
CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The back-to-back Prospect League champion Chillicothe Paints, presented by CohenOrthopedic, have re-signed pitcher Mikey Olivieri for the upcoming 2024 season, which begins May 28.
Olivieri joined the Paints halfway through the season in 2023, quickly becoming a go-to option out of the bullpen. In 11 appearances, the righthander went 3-0 with two saves and a 3.80 ERA, walking 11 and striking out 12 over 21 1/3 innings pitched.
Starting with the second of two innings pitched against Johnstown July 15, Olivieri put together a stretch of 12 1/3 innings without allowing an earned run, including five straight appearances.
Currently a sophomore at Ohio Wesleyan University, Olivieri is in his second season as a member of the Battling Bishops. So far this spring (as of March 12), he is 1-0 with a 1.93 ERA over two appearances and 4 2/3 innings pitched, striking out four and walking one.
Olivieri is a Jackson Township, Ohio native, where he lettered twice at Jackson High School, helping the Ironmen to a league championship.
The Chillicothe Paints open the home portion of their schedule Thursday, May 30, at VA Memorial Stadium against the Johnstown Mill Rats at 7:05 p.m. Draft beer will be just $2 for Thirsty Thursday. For advertising and season ticket information, visit ChillicothePaints.com.
