Toledo Infielder Jeron Williams Signs With Paints
CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The Chillicothe Paints, presented by Adena Health System, announce the signing of Jeron Williams for the upcoming season, which begins on the road Wednesday, June 1.
A sophomore at the University of Toledo, Williams owns the second-best batting average for the Rockets this spring, hitting .323 over 54 starts. The infielder leads the team in runs scored (45), hits (70), triples (4), stolen bases (22) and is tied for third in RBIs (29).
Williams was recently named to the Mid-American Conference's all-defensive team. Starting at shortstop in 54 of the Rockets' 55 games, Williams hasn't committed an error in 16-straight games, while helping turn 22 double plays in MAC play.
Prior to Toledo, Willams was a 2021 second-team preseason Prep Baseball Report JUCO All-American at Lincoln Trail Community College, hitting .276 with 50 hits, eight doubles, two home runs, 32 RBIs, and 19 stolen bases in 53 games that season
Last summer, Williams played in the inaugural season of the MLB Draft League with the West Virginia Black Bears, hitting .273 in 29 games.
From Archbold, Ohio, Williams is a graduate of Archbold High School, helping the baseball team win four district titles.
