Paints Add Tiffin's Gunnar Boehm

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The Chillicothe Paints, presented by Adena Health System, announce the signing of pitcher Gunnar Boehm for the upcoming season, which begins on the road at Champion City, Wednesday, June 1.

Boehm is currently a sophomore at Tiffin University (junior academically), throwing the third-most innings for the Dragons so far this spring (as of May 6). The righthander owns a 4-1 record and 3.74 ERA over 43 1/3 innings spread across 10 appearances, including eight starts, this spring. Boehm is allowing opponents to hit just .244 against him, striking out 53 while walking just 18.

As a freshman in 2019, Boehm saw plenty of action, appearing in 18 games on the mound with seven starts. He recorded a 1.99 ERA in 41.2 innings, striking out 33. His sophomore season was off to a strong start - making four appearances on the mound, throwing 7 2/3 innings and recording a 1.17 ERA with 10 strikeouts and just two walks while earning one save - before the the COVID-19 pandemic canceled the balance of the season. 

An Ellwood City, Pa. native, Boehm was a multi-sport athlete at Riverside High School, earning four letters in baseball and soccer as well as three in basketball. He was named to the Beaver County Times top-22 list twice and was the 2018 All-Section Player of the Year. His high school also won the WPIAL Championship in 2016 and 2017.

The Chillicothe Paints open the home portion of their season Thursday, June 2 at VA Memorial Stadium against the Champion City Kings at 7:05 p.m. Draft beer will be just $2 for Thirsty Thursday, thanks to Budweiser, and a Fireworks Extravaganza will follow, sponsored by 94 Country.
