Paints Sign Akron's Ian Pennington

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The Chillicothe Paints, presented by Adena Health System, announce the signing of outfielder Ian Pennington for the upcoming 2022 season, which begins on the road at Champion City, Wednesday, June 1.

A native of Springboro, Ohio, Pennington is in his freshman season with the University of Akron, playing in 33 of the Zips' 35 games, including 32 starts (as of April 18), primarily as a centerfielder. 

The 6-foot-2, 200 pounder currently owns a .208 batting average with four doubles, a triple, three home runs and eight RBIs. He's also swiped five bags on six attempts this spring.

As a senior at Springboro High School in 2021, Pennington hit .375 in 29 games, collecting eight doubles, three triples, a pair of home runs and 29 RBIs. 

The Chillicothe Paints open the home portion of their season Thursday, June 2 at VA Memorial Stadium against the Champion City Kings at 7:05 p.m. Draft beer will be just $2 for Thirsty Thursday, thanks to Budweiser, and a Fireworks Extravaganza will follow, sponsored by 94 Country.
