"Home of the Chillicothe Paints"

The Chillicothe Paints make their home at the
Veterans Administration Memorial Stadium located on the V.A. Hospital campus. The stadium
is located just 4 miles north of Chillicothe on State Route 104. It was constructed
in 1954 by the "Blue Star Mothers of America." A commemorative plaque
attached to the wall in the concession area of the stadium reads, "In Living Remembrance of Those Who Served to Preserve the
Ideals of this Nation and in Love of Fellow Man."
Originally, the stadium and playing surface was to
provide a place for softball games, played by the thousands of veterans who were long-term
patients at the V.A. Hospital. In 1993, with the cooperative effort of the V.A.
Administration, the Paints' Organization completely renovated the stadium.
The facility that the Paints call home
is one of the most unique and intimate ballparks in all of baseball. In 2000, the
Chillicothe Paints drew over 70,000 fans in 42 home games to V.A. Memorial Stadium. In
addition to hosting Paints' games, the stadium is host to various other
events. The Ohio High School Athletic Association plays their District and Regional
tournaments at V.A Memorial. Children of all ages have the opportunity to learn baseball
fundamentals on the field when their favorite Paints' players give instructions during the
Paints' summer youth clinics. Chillicothe High School has held their graduation at the
stadium and area schools have made the stadium an annual stop for field trips. The Stadium
was the site of the historic Ralph Bell Crusade and the hospital also hosts veteran's
activities including the POW-MIA Recognition Day .
